Enjoy a 2-day acrylic painting workshop inspired by Elizabeth Blackadder
In this two-day workshop, in collaboration with Paintbox School of Art, we will explore the work of RA Elizabeth Blackadder. Using 'objects' as a starting point for our exploration, we will explore the power of these pieces we collect to evoke memory of travel, people, time and place.
The first day will focus on ‘getting to know’ the objects, before going to on to explore composition and context. Using a variety of drawing materials we will play with scale, placement and form. As the day progresses, with will delve into the importance of colour in Blackadder’s work and consider its own power in evoking memory.
You will also enjoy a tour of our Scottish Women Artists exhibition by a member of the Dovecot Team.
The second day will allow participants to create a finished acrylic mixed painting on board in response to their chosen objects, and a narrative discovered on day one.
