Dalbeattie Men's Shed: Brass Tip Bobbin

This special brass tip Tapestry Weaving Bobbin has been made by Dalbeattie Men's Shed, who have considerable experience of recycling and repurposing a wide range of items giving them a new life. 

The bobbin has been made from Iroko school chemistry workbenches which have been rescued after 40 years in an Edinburgh school, others are made from obsolete industrial tools and machinery or antique furniture from country houses that are surplus to requirements.

A portion of Dalbeattie Men's Shed bobbins are made from local timbers harvested sustainably from a privately owned woodland as part of an environmental management programme.
