Join Kate Colin for a Fan Making class and learn how to make a 360 degree cockade fan and a traditional folding fan. Kate has combined her experience as a paper artist with recent training at The Fan Museum in Greenwich and with Master Fan Maker Frédérick Gay to create a bespoke workshop which brings together traditional fan making skills and contemporary paper folding techniques.
Fan Making has been identified as a critically endangered craft in the UK by the Heritage Craft Association and the class will start with a short presentation about fan making, its history and how they are used in period costume for film, television and theatre.
Paper, sets of fan sticks and all equipment are included. If you would like to use your own patterned paper please bring two large sheets of unfolded paper in A3 size (around 100gsm) or 1m rolls of non-glossy wrapping paper.
Tickets £75.00
