A musical genius, a showman and one of the best-selling artists of all time, Prince was known for his singular style and as a trailblazer devoted to the art of dressing.

Fashion historian Casci Ritchie joins Dovecot in conversation with a greatest-hits compilation of the best pieces in Prince's wardrobe. Providing a garment-by-garment exploration of Prince's flamboyant look, Ritchie discusses how his sartorial brilliance and self-expression made Prince a fashion icon and continues to shape contemporary culture.

Ritchie will also discuss the latest edition of her book On His Royal Badness: The Life and Legacy of Prince's Fashion, which highlights the importance of Prince as a cultural icon, and dive into the depths of Prince’s own personal reverence for fashion and self-expression, and what can be learned through that. A must-read for fans of Prince, fashion, and discovering more about cultural icons and their lasting influence in unexpected ways.

Dr Casci Ritchie is the author of On His Royal Badness: The Life and Legacy of Prince's Fashion (2026). A fashion and culture historian, writer, and educator based in Scotland, Ritchie’s doctoral research explored the origins, materiality and afterlives of Prince's dress.
