Tapestry Colour Studies: Alberta Whittle and Dovecot Studios, Ring Around the Rosy 2023
Couldn't load pickup availability
Commissioned by The Modern Institute for Whittle's 2023 exhibition, the work encompasses both a sense of childhood joy and a haunted quality – the nursery rhyme is widely understood to reference the Great Plague of London.
Due to this tapestry’s unconventional shape, a foundational weft was woven through the warp to give the tapestry structure, which was then unpicked by hand once complete to reveal the beautiful outline.
Specification:
- Ash waxed frame (200mm x 200mm)
- Anti-reflective and UV protected glass (Artglass AR70)
- Dovecot Studios mark of authentication
