The Scottish Colourists: Art and Landscape

See Scotland’s outstanding natural beauty through the eyes of four of the most celebrated artists of the 20th century. Acclaimed art historian Alice Strang highlights how the Scottish Colourists FCB Cadell, JD Fergusson, GL Hunter and SJ Peploe used bold, vibrant colour to transform landscape painting. Taking her new National Galleries of Scotland book, The Scottish Colourists: Art and Life, as a starting point she will examine the connection the artists felt with the Scottish landscape, taking in Edinburgh, Fife, Dumfries & Galloway, the Highlands and Lowlands and – above all – the Hebridean island of Iona so beloved by Cadell and Peploe.
