How do we shape rooms and how do they shape us?
Join interior designer Graeme Brooker for an exhilarating survey of global interiors from the pre-historic to the present day. Learn how spaces shape our lives and why they matter through an exploration of private and public interiors. Drawing on global examples from nomadic dwellings, state-of-the-art airports, through monumental temples and Baroque palaces to high-rise apartments and high-fashion boutiques, Brooker focuses attention on the details – walls, doors, windows, furniture, ambience – to explore how the design of our interiors influences the way we live, work, learn and play.
Graeme Brooker is the author of THE STORY OF THE INTERIOR How We Have Shaped Rooms and How They Shape Us (2025, Thames & Hudson). An interior designer with extensive experience in practice, education and research, he has been the head of programme for the Interior Design MA at the Royal College of Art in London since 2015.
The event includes entry to IKEA: Magical Patterns before the talk.
